When a human being has his or her heart picked up, he or she might feel temporarily confused, but it's not dangerous - new feelings will soon produce new hearts. For a witch or wizard however, having your heart picked up can be deadly.. The different colors of the hearts symbolizes different feelings and are valuable in the magical world - each heart has its own value in ecru, and are used as an energy source in the magical world.
